Shotgun Food Challenge No. 6
Avoid foods that have some sort of sugar (or sweetener) listed in the top 3 ingredients.
Labels are required to list their ingredients by weight. Therefore, if a product has more sugar than the other ingredients — that’s too much sugar!
To complicate things, food science has created over 40 kinds of sugar:
Barley rice sugar
Fruit juice concentrate
And the list goes on!
REMEMBER: SUGAR IS SUGAR.
ORGANIC SUGAR IS SUGAR TOO!
As for noncaloric sweeteners such as aspartame or Splenda, research suggests that switching to artificial sweeteners DOES NOT PROMOTE WEIGHT LOSS for reasons not yet well understood.
I personally have found that eating artificial sweeteners makes me crave more sweet things and food in general. Once I shut the sugar switch off (real sugar and artificial), the cravings subside dramatically. And, REAL FOOD starts tasting sooooo much better.
EAT REAL FOOD.
NOT TOO MUCH.
