Shotgun FOOD: Challenge No. 2
Eat real food.
Not too much.
We’ve spent two weeks talking about and trying out the practice of eating only “real food”. Specifically, eat only foods with 1 - 5 ingredients. If there is more than one ingredient you should be able to know and pronounce every single ingredient.
There’s been a lot of great discussion in the gym and on our Shotgun FOOD facebook page about this. The colorful grocery carts and tons of food prep are all victories!
Let’s move onto challenge number two:
Eat food that will eventually rot.
Kind of gross, I know! But, if you have a food that can sit on the counter, last through the zombie apocalypse, and still taste the same on day 55 as it did on day 1 - that is mostly likely not “real food”. It is a pre-packaged, highly processed product with way more that 1-5 ingredients.
Frankly, our bodies and health deserve better than that.
Yes, I know there are some exceptions to this “rule”, but overall it is a great standard to have when choosing real food.
